The customized Permobil chair presented to Golnaz Tavassoli at NC State

A purpose bigger than any one project

Purpose

Using the entire platform to create hope through BEAT ALS.

The story

When ALS became personal, standing on the sidelines was no longer an option.

Through Coach Bob Waters, Mark Feichter, Keith LeClair, and the families whose lives have been changed by ALS, Matt found a calling that connects everything else: use his platform, network, and talent to bring hope to others and move people to action.

The proof

BEAT ALS

Bringing people together to fuel hope, fund progress, and stand with families facing ALS.

BEAT ALS turns connection into action through storytelling, live experiences, partnerships, and a growing community determined to make a difference.

Mobility in action

Golnaz’s chair presentation at NC State

On April 28, 2026, a customized Permobil power chair became a life-changing moment of independence, dignity, and hope.

Creating meaningful experiences

Hope is also a memory a family can carry home.

At Boshamer Stadium, Raphael Hebert and his family shared a night with Matt and the North Carolina baseball community. The welcome, the access, and the time together created the kind of experience BEAT ALS exists to make possible.

Mobility changes what someone can do. Meaningful experiences remind families that they are seen, supported, and never facing ALS alone.

Get involved

Hope gets louder when we build it together.
